TPO roofs in good condition can usually handle up to 1 ¾”-sized hail, and EPDM can typically withstand up to 2 ½”-sized hail. However, minor fractures in the membranes can increase a roof’s vulnerability. 2.   Edge Peeling

Although both sloped roofs and flat roof systems are potentially vulnerable to wind damage, the outcome can look different based on the structure of the roof. With a sloped roof, you’re more likely to see missing shingles or granules. With a flat roof, however, the uplift effect you can get from wind pressure can pull a flat roof up, loosening it first around the building perimeter.

3.   Significant Roof Uplift

If edge peeling is ignored or overlooked, more significant roof damage can occur over time. The materials on the top of the roof can become wrinkled, folded, or kinked. These signs can signify an underlying uplift across the entire area of the roof that allows water to seep in and could potentially result in eventual roof failure.
