As a Minnesota commercial business owner or manager, keeping your product and facility safe is one of your top priorities. From warehouse facilities to showrooms, the building that houses your commercial group needs to have a powerful and stable roof.

At A-Plus Roofing, we’ve been providing Minnesota companies with high-performance commercial flat roofs and roofing repair for nearly three decades. We offer several types of roofing and roof repair, including TPO roofing, Duro-Last roofs, and rubber membranes. But figuring out which roof system is best for your business can be a little confusing when you’re not familiar with the different types of roofs. That’s why this post is all about introducing the different types of flat roofs and how they work to protect a business or organization.

TPO Membranes

A TPO membrane is a single layer of thermoplastic polyolefin sheeting. It offers powerful resistance to a number of environmental forces including ozone, solar UV rays, and chemicals.

Because of its resistance to solar radiation, a TPO membrane can work to dramatically lower heating costs during Minnesota’s cold winters by holding in heat. At the same time, it can lower air conditioning expenses during the warmer months by reflecting heat rather than absorbing it. In fact, TPO membranes are able to carry the Energy Star rating, meaning they’re one of the more efficient roofing options on the market today.

EPDM Rubber Membranes

Our rubber membranes are made from ethylene propylene diene monomer or EPDM. EPDM is a synthetic rubber compound that makes for one of the most ecologically sound roofing options available.

Like TPO, EPDM is resistant to heat, extreme cold, ozone, and strong weather. It’s also resistant to highly acidic substances such as ketones as well as alkaline substances, making it powerfully durable.

PVC Roofs

Our Duro-Last roofs are made from a single-ply PVC membrane. They’re available in three levels of thickness and six color options. Similar to EPDM and TPO membranes, PVC roofs offer powerful resistance to chemicals and UV radiation. Additionally, they are highly reflective, which can work to lower overall energy costs. Most importantly, our Duro-Last roofs are custom fabricated to perfectly fit your roof.
